A product liability claim is one where you as a consumer or user of a product allege that there is a defect which caused you some injury. The keyword here is defect.
In order to prove what that defect is in most cases you have to bring in an expert witness with knowledge as to that product. Therefore the expert will state how the product is defective and how the defect caused the injury.
These claims can be very complex. Likewise they can be very expensive to pursue. They require legal counsel and input from highly skilled experts. These experts will analyze the product and decide why it failed. There are also some special legal requirements that may apply to some product claims. These deal with giving notice to the seller or manufacturer of the product.
